Celebrating the British summertime

There is one outdoor activity the rain cannot spoil and that is splashing around in Bradford’s City Park on a space hopper! Organisers of the Bounce for Bradford event in support of Yorkshire Cancer Research will hold the family fun event in City Park on Sunday, July 22nd. Adults will love the trip down memory lane on the much-loved 1970s iconic space hoppers while children will be swept away by the novelty of it all.

To mark the official countdown to Bounce for Bradford, children from Our Lady and St Brendan’s Primary School visited recently-opened City Park to warm up and demonstrate just how much fun the hoppers can be. The main event takes place at 11am but entrants are asked to arrive around 9.30am in time for registration, a fun warm-up and entertainment. Entry costs £12 per person which includes a T-shirt, fundraising pack and your very own space hopper.

Emma Young, head of events at Yorkshire Cancer Research, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the British summertime in such a fun and positive way in a great city centre space.” Harrogate-based Yorkshire Cancer Research is the UK’s largest regional medical research charity. Every penny raised is spent in Yorkshire, funding £6m of research and treatment and diagnosis projects throughout the region each year. Whilst it may not be as sunny as we’d hoped, we are encouraging people to bring  water-proof clothing or even a change of clothes, to stay comfortable throughout the day.. Happy hopping!
